4th of July Parade in Covington
Message from the Friends of Peaselburg Neighborhood Association:
Covington's only 4th of July parade begins at 11am, at St Augustine School located on W. 19th Street. Overflow please line up at Glenn O Swing across the street.
Our neighborhood welcomes everyone to join us celebrate Independence Day by participating in our Annual 4th of July parade. The event, billed as one of Northern Kentucky's oldest Independence Day parades, traces its beginnings to the early 1960s, when neighbors on Euclid Avenue that were hosting an Independence Day party bought some hats and flags for the children and he marched them around the backyard.
It's mostly a walking parade where children can decorate anything that transports them — their bikes, wagons, in-line skates, strollers… even themselves! In addition to lots of children, we encourage vehicles (antiques too :) ) and floats too. Afterward, participants and spectators can enjoy mingling with each other in the church parking lot. We will have lemonade and bottled water PLUS KONA ICE will be on site!
We encourage everyone to join us for the parade… and for those that can’t walk or ride, to come outside on your porch or to the street and cheer us on as we parade by!
In addition, we ask our Peaselburg residents to please proudly display the American Flag! Our 4th of July Peaselburg parade kind of serves as an unofficial reunion for many past Peaselburg residents to come back to their old neighborhood and see their friends in a community that has a strong history, an exciting present and a planned future.
Hope to see you there!
